Well we just had one of the rare proof of that, although I bet you it happens a lot all year long. This time, the case comes from India and involves the good ol' ipod. The company isn't named, and most of the time corporate espionage cases are not even shared with authorities, although this is slowly starting to change.

Thing is, this is a true story.
Here it is... Iranian security has caught a bird fitted with spy equipment. True story! It was on a tree near an underground uranium enrichment plant.

1- Spy camera sales will grow even more than in the past. We are at a point where the technology is so mature and so is the manufacturing, that prices will drop quite a bit next year. Easily by 20%. And this will result in even more sales.
2- Billions of people will own spy equipment. Well this has already happened actually. Here I'm talking about cell phones.
They are starting to have video capabilities and they're as slim as they ever been. Not to mention their memory capacity makes it that you can let it sit anywhere and record a lot of video.
3- Billions of people are more and more prone to be the victim of their own "spy tool". This again related to cell phones. In this case tho, the problem is that spy software are more and more popular. And once installed on your cell phone, people can spy on you from far away.
Well just felt like sharing these predictions with you. Keep an eye around you. You just never know who may be watching... Great Spy Glasses Just For YouHello Folks. Spy Cameras Are Nothing Compared To This ThreatForget about little spy cams...
The big boys from Russia, an army of spies, are swarming the UK. This is straight from an ex head of KGB who has fled to the U.S. in 2003 for fear of his safety.
While UK counterintelligence estimates there are about 30 Russian spies on it's soil, this ex spies estimates it could now be as high as 700+ people. No matter how many TSCM sessions you do, if the culrpit is a person, your counterspy equipment won't be able to detect it - especially the Russians... http://www.people.co.uk/news/news/tm_headline=russia-floods- uk-with-700-spies&method=full&objectid=20735872& siteid=93463-name_page.html The Myth Of Xray CamerasThere is a big myth surrounding xray cameras. Well, let's say there is half truths. It is true that cameras with IR filters like Sony nightshot can see through some fabrics, including some clothes, but most of the time it doesn't, if the fabric has a decent thickness. Yes you can see through many types of swim wear but the technology and the products using this tech were certainly not developed for those peeping tom purposes. It has law enforcement purposes.
Protect Yourself From GPS TrackersWith the spread and abuse of car tracking systems, we need a way to counter this threat. This is something I have long been an advocate of. Countermeasures for GPS technology. In recent news we have discovered that even police is using this tracking spy technology without any warrants. The solution is getting a GPS jammer. This will block the gps device, even if you can't find it in your car, from ever sending your GPS coordinates. As long as it is turned on. If you want to learn more about this, look for "GPS JAMMER" down the following page: http://www.advanced-intelligence.com/counter.html Finally Revealed: Well known people that spiedSome well known figures were part time spies. Did you know that..? Even a famous cook we often saw on TV!!
Can you guess who they are? Of course not! You can take a guess, but unless you had a hidden camera catching them in action or a well known source, chances you would have called me crazy if I'd told you that some of them were spying for the government.

I'm still shaking my head in disbelief. How could this SUPER top secret knowledge and technology leak so much...?
We need to revisit out counterspy capabilities and weaknesses. Cold War-era Spy Gear On Display By The State DepartmentThe state department decided to put on display what was once top secret spy gear used by our goverment and other governments. These include audio transmitters, devices that detect the presence of spy devices and many other interesting pieces of history. The reason they are now willing to display those is because now they are obsolete, as we evolved into the digital age.
Very interesting nonetheless.

A spy bug that looks like a fly?Yes!. And there's much more than spy flies in the air. Well, let's be realistic here... There are many spy robots, even in the form of flying bugs and birds in development. But there is not flying spy bug fly yet. But it's getting there and is in development. Stanford University has a mechanical fly that's extremely small, but needs to be attached to a wire for it's power. Work on spy insects has been going on at DOD and at the CIA since the 70's. Also, the CIA is quoted as saying it cannot say what happened in this area of spy bugs research, since they've developed some early "bid-like" flying spy equipment, many years ago.
DARPA has actually worked on installing some kind of control mechanism on insects!

Well you shouldn't feel secure! Actually you shouldn't worry so much cause you're a "nobody' so to speak. But your government IS worried!
What am I talking about? Well it seems there is an increase in sale of counterfeit computer equipment, like network cards. And foreign spies could potentially be in the mix, and could resell counterfeit network adapter cards and other equipment to military organizations.

..and realize it is already happening... Future Spy Gear Could Read Your Mind?Could it be possible in the future for some spy gear to read your mind? Well this is pretty far fetched. But some new technological discovery points to some abilities to "read minds". Sort of... Scientists at the University of California were able to know what picture a person was seeing by looking at their brainwaves pattern. And with pretty good accuracy. The catch? First, the scientists first need to catalog what the brain activity of the person has he looks as specific image, using a type of magnetic resonance imaging brain scan.

CIA's technological and operational Marvel Of the PastThere's is one technological(spy equipment) and operational achievement of the CIA that will always be remembered as "one of the greatest" in espionage history. That is the tunnel it secretly constructed in Berlin to tap into the communications of the germans and soviets.
Have a look at what this achievement looked like...
It extended 300 yards into the Soviet sector. For about a year it it allowed the U.S. and Britain to record and listen to all the conversations going through three large cables that carried most of the telephone and telegraph traffic between East Berlin and points farther afield.

Investigation lead to uranium seizure and sellersGreat surveillance and investigative work has led Slovakian police to a gang that was trying to sell uranium - 98% pure uranium. While seizure of uranium in republics of the former Soviet Union has happened several times in the past, the uranium being seized is usually of much lower quality than this time around. Police had been monitoring the sellers and the potential buyers, although not much details are known about the buyers. An effective intelligence system must be behind the constant monitoring of possible uranium illegal "trading", and everything must be in place and used to make sure criminals aren't successful in selling any of it - including using the most sophisticated surveillance equipment the state and police has. Take for example the investigation of a russian biologist whose under investigation for supposed attempt at smuggling of material and knowledge about biological warfare. The latest ccyber espionage headline concerns the United States. But several nations went on record confirmind they too, had been the victim of hacking to their government computer networks - including germany and Britain. Wheter these network penetration and theft of digital information has been perpetrated by the government itself or by individual hackers is still not known. But most experts agree that the chinese governemnt is most likely involved behind these actions - either directly or indirectly. Chinese use of computers as spy equipment, or even for attacking purposes as cyber warfare, is something that has been on the drawing boards of the chinese for several years now. The chinese see this form of warfare as a highly effective asymmetrical weapon. Especially against highly networked dependent countries like the United states. The technology involved, involving "quantum dots", would indeed allow to decode highly secure encoded mesages in a matter of seconds, literally. The world of security and espionage may well change forever. Spies have relied on the sending of encrypted communications from embassies for decades. While security services can sometime access or intercept those spy messages, they usually can't decode and read them. Nearly double that of what it was in 1995. Many of those classified programs are related to intelligence gathering, such as surveillance satellites. Many of the "customers" of these classified spying programs and equipment are from the NSA, the CIA, and the NRO. So much money poured into these programs. One has to wonder what is the return on investment for those. The answer may evade us forever... More Nuclear Espionage and Security ProblemsRemember how there were so many nuclear security and espionage problems over the past several years? Well another story just broke out on the same topic. Although of much less significance, a low-level contract worker for one of the department of energy's center has attempted to sell stolent uranium enrichment equipment to a supposed french spy agent.
Turns out the spy agent was actually an FBI undercover agent. What I find particularly strange, is how that worker actually believed that such information would be interest to the french. As far as I know, the french are as advanced as we are when it comes to enrichment technology, and would not have much interest in this equipment. The countries that would be most interested in using spy equipment and agents to acquire such things are North Korea, and Iran. Since there aren't that many intel specialists out there, it only make sense to gather the best veterans out there under the same roof to teach the next generation of intel people so that they get the best training possible.
This is definitely a step forward as we really need the best human intelligence possible these days.
Spy equipment alone just doesnt cut it anymore. for more information: www.gxonline.com/gxintelnews?id=40702 International spying against the U.S at cold war levelThere are increasing reports, testimonies and government documents and assessment that many foreign countries are increasing their spying activities against the United States. While it's true every country, including the United States, perform some kind of spying activities, the level of spying from some countries is quite alarming. Take the russians for example. It is said their level of intelligence activities againt the U.S. is as high as it was during the Cold War. Other countries which are good in getting intelligence and are pushing their intelligence agencies hard are China, Cuba and Iran. A country we rarely hear about is France. But so little information has been released on their espionage operation that it's hard to say if they also increased their operations against the U.S. . Of great concern is Cuba. Why? Because they are so good at getting to the U.S. secrets and there is great suspicion they are sharing their sensitive findings with several key U.S. "adversaries" or competitors. There is proof they share key information with Russia and probably with China as well. Since the U.S. is being increasingly targeted from an ever growing number of foreign countries, it is increasingly hard for the U.S. to protect itself and counter with effective counterintelligence operations. Not long ago, a new U.S. counterintelligence strategy has been drafted and accepted. This strategy calls for being proactive as countering foreign intelligence services. It will take a while to see how successful this strategy will bebut it is definitely a winning strategy, and one the U.S. should have implemented long ago. We shall have some idea of it's effectiveness in about 4-8 years. But if you ask me, the U.S. government and establishment has been penetrated so much...... it'll definitely be a hard road ahead. But you gotta do what you gotta do. Let's just hope they stick to that new counterintelligence strategy long enough for it to work. -Max Penn Security topics: The choice is yours!Dear avid readers, First of all many thanks for all the great emails you are sending my way.It is mostly positive messages regarding my articles. Great article on industrial espionageThere's a great article on industrial espionage I think you, as a reader of my website, will be interested about. It's a great article touching on the state of industrial espionage, the many actors playing that game - from private companies to state sponsored intelligence efforts to gather economic and industrial intelligence.
It also follows the chronology of some of the great intelligence operations that happened over many years here at home in the U.S. and abroad.
CIA, KGB, France, Taiwan... ..the billion of losses...
...and a whole lot more.
Great lenghty article.

Plane seats may spy on you within a few yearsI'm not sure what to think of this one, but it seemsspy cameras find their ways in all kind of places and sometimes being used in very creative ways... There is research being done in France and Germany where they are developing technology where plane seats would be outfitted with surveillance cameras. These cameras would installed at the back of each seat and pointing at the person sitting at the seat behind it. The camera would look for suspicous behavior from the person it is aiming. If it identifies suspicious behaviors, it would alert people in the cockpit of such suspicious behavior. How would it identify suspicious behavior? Sophisticated monitoring software would look for specific so called suspicious behavior such as blinking alot and other sort of behaviors. for more info on this get to... http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-23385096-details/The%20tiny%20airli ne%20spy%20that%20spots%20bombers%20in%20the%20blink%20of%20an %20eye/article.do
China's computer espionage coming of ageChina's intelligence abilities and activities are once again part of the news. This time, there are indications chinese spy agencies as well as hackers, are highly advanced in computer spying. After several stories from U.S. government sources about China's multiple attempts and success at getting access to U.S. government computers and computer networks, it seems that Britain is also being the victim of such cyberspace attacks. Wether the Chinese government itself is behind those spy software and computer breaches is matter of debate. But so far, most people in the security field which have had a glimpse at the cases seem to agree that at least part of these cyberspace spy operations seem to be state sponsored from China. Here you go... Any pc can actually act as an advanced piece of spy equipment.
You've been shot with an ID tracking chip!Read this... James Bond-style espionage gear just got even more "spooky"... It seems there is now a sniper gun that shoots ID chips -not at you, but IN you. True! The ID chip gets inside your body and the "gunner" can thenknow your location and track you, no matter where you are on the face of this earth - thanks to it's integrated gps tracking capability. The sniper gun enables the "agent" to aim at his targetfrom far away. What's more, the target only feel a subtle sting sensationwhen shot the microchip, a bit like that of a mosquito. To be frank, I dont know what to think of this one. Let us know what you think! Max P
Can China destroy The U.S. Spy Eyes in the Sky?Very recently, China has made the bold move of testing an anti-satellite weapon - that is, a balistic missile fired from the ground that hit one of it's older satellite in low earth orbit. This is the first such test in 20 years and obviously the U.S. is very concerned about it's ability to keep it's edge in terms of surveillance from outer space as well as it's general military space edge. Several country have expressed concerns over this test, including our Australian friends. According to some, this doesn't seem to violate agreements on the peaceful use of space which both China and the U.S. are signatories of.

More on the Russian spy caught in CanadaHi there.Just a quick note to let you know about a new article about that russian spy caught in Canada. It adds insight from intelligence experts as well. A good quick spy reading.

China approaches people of chinese origin to get them to spills the beans on some secret or technology it wants to get it's hands on. Or some person will directly go to chinese autorities to try and seel what he thinks is of interest to that country. This time a chinese nationals with Canadian Citizenship has provided China with software developed by Quantum3d, a U.S. company, which is used to train fighter pilots in night vision simulation scenarios. Even more compromising, this individual provided China with software to help test military hardware using computer simulation before it ever get on the production line.
This alone could greatly help China in accelerating it's military technical developments.

Stealth technology not only given away to China. Custom designed for them using our very best engineer!!Its disturbing. Really really disturbing. See the United States has always focussed heavily on technology to do it's spying activity, often to only limited results and insight. Foreign governments, on the other hand, can claim extraordinary successes in their spying activities again the U.S., using human spying. Listen to this... The father of the stealth propulsion technology for the B-2 stealth bomber approached the Chinese governement, and not only gave them information on stealth technology...
no no... He went to China six time and designed and tested the stealthy propulsion system for China's next generation stealthy cruise missile that will be really hard to detect.
The U.S. need to invest much more heavily in its countersurveillance activities. Control over sensitive military technology seem to go out of control. read more here:http://english.pravda.ru/news/world/09-11-2006/85436-china-0

Incredible: A brilliant super covert piece of surveillance equipment soon to a soldier near you...So what is it... An invisible spy boomerang! Nothing less.
What if the soldier on the battlefield could reach in his back pack, take a boomerang out, unfold it, throw it in the direction of the ennemi and get live video reconnaissance from the ennemi side... and become 99% invisible in mid air while on its mission! This ain't no hollywood movie. This is brilliant engineering at it's best.

Portable music players are scaring the hell out of compagniesRead the following excerps..."A source in the security industry said using a music player to steal corporate information is a crime that is almost impossible to detect. " And then for the cherry on the sunday... "The problem for company security chiefs is that a user can copy a crucial file or document to an iPod and then delete its entry from the device's list of recorded files without wiping the actual file from the iPod's hard drive. An inspection of the device, extended to check every stored file, would only reveal music. However, once the device were taken from the building, the file could easily be accessed by bypassing the Apple interface and reading it straight from the device's hard drive."

Old spy equipment just won't go away june 27 2006More than 50 years after it's first flight, the U-2 spy plane is being upgraded and keeps flying near the world's hottest spots and near potential adversaries. This goes to show the technological achievements in the areas of surveillance that took place in the 50s to 70s. Back to the U-2... Several of the new upgraded U-2 planes will be heading their way to South korea where they will keep a close watch on possible launches of a new missile being developed by North Korea. The U-2 still seems a really important piece of spy equipmentwhen it comes to knowing what other countries are up to. Why change what is already working, right? P.S. On a side note... There are increasing signs the U.S. is flying a newgeneration of spy planes as we speak. Several paragraphs of a UK document were blankedout because they referred to specific U.S. plane programs. In the same document, the UK mentioned the US desire forfast, high altitude planes. Could there be a correlation here? The respected Janes Defence Group think so. More as it develops.
Riddle: Im the most powerful spy equipment, yet I'm the Weakest...Who am i?Do do you know the answer? A human spy and his sources! Ok ok this one was a bit of a trick. Let's get back to the subject... For the past couple of decades, the U.S.has put a big focus on technology over humanintelligence involving case officers, aka spies, and their sources. From sophisticated NSA communication interceptiontechnologies which can intercept communicationsin underwater cables, to the "star wars" programswhich attempted to develop space weapons and surveillance gears - The U.S. has indeed developed some amazing spy technologies. All were of benefit. But was the benefit really achievingthe goal intended... i.e. "is X country testing a nuclearbomb underground in Y region?" ? ...well it's not something which can answer with a briefsentence, but let's say hi tech spy devices usually onlyprovide one piece of the puzzle. Further more, countries like North Korea and China are reallygood at deception. So the U.S high tech satellites takingpictures over China might be victim to deception - meaningthings on the ground may be made to look a certain way sothat U.S. intelligence analyst may be led to believe the situationon the ground is a certain way. And NOT the way it really is. Good sources on the ground can provide a much more detailedand overall picture of a situation or piece of intelligence is needed. Now to the downsides... While human sources have their strenght, they also canbe limited, even dangerous. That is, the source might not be reliable and may evenfabricate or exagerate facts so that they keep receivingmoney in exchange for their services and information they provide. This is especially dangerous when you have few sourcesto validate a piece of intelligence. This was a problemof the Iraq weapons programmes assessment I believe. Finally... A human source might turn out to be or become a double agent. In this case this person will actually feed wrong or modifiedinformation - in which case the intelligence analysts mightactually end up with an even more blurry or wrong pictureof the real facts. In Conclusion... One thing is for sure tho...While the U.S. concentrated it's spy efforts and resourcesto sophisticated spying devices, others like the Russiansalways put a strong focus on human intelligence. And it isproven the Russians were much better at getting other people'ssecrets than we ever were. Of course a balanced combination of surveillance technology and humanintelligence is the best. The U.S. seemingly realised this and as of may 2006,the CIA declared it is about to unleash three timesas many new CIA case officers into actions as it hadsince 2001. Next time we'll take about the espiona threatthe Unites States is facing... even from it's own allies!
Major Alert: NSA is onto millions of you right nowYes... When you thought the NSA was outrageous for having spied on 5000 of U.S. citizens, the NSA surprised and shocked us in a way thought inconceivable just yesterday... The NSA has been collecting the phone records information of literaly tens of millions of U.S. citizens - people who are suspected of no crime at all! It's happening right now as we speak. No NSA spy equipment is required in this case thanks to companies such as who are making the data available for them to sift through and analyze. The purpose? Find patterns of some sort of terrorism activity and communication. It's even worse than you think Listen, the NSA wants to have a national phone call database of every call ever made within the U.S. borders! The result, described by insider people with knowledge on the subject - is to build the largest database of the world, ever. No less. The world is quickly becoming what was once only pure Hollywood movie fiction: A world where our every steps are tracked and judged. A world where the individual has no anonymity and where the "good" of the mother country is a justification over anything and everything it does and make people go through. oups... sorry I'm still exaggerating huh... That's what science fiction is all about: something we do not believe will happen until 40-50 years later. Then all of a sudden the earth is round and we can fly. Spy equipment and technology definitely his a double edged sword.
Iran to get a taste of Israel spy satellite medecine A new spy satellite, which is partly owned by the Israel government's IAI, has just been launched in late april. This spy satellite, which is also partly owned by some foreign investors, will be of commercial use as well as government use. Called the Eros B, it has a standard panchromatic resolution of 70 centimeters. Extremely powerful imaging capabilities! Differentiating between two objects seperated by 70 centimeters is now possible. With so much determination from the Iranians over their nuclear ambitions and their comments on wiping out Israel from the face of the earth - you can bet Iran will be one of the regions over which Israel is likely to use the 30 million dollars satellite prying eyes over.
Blogs are a new spy tool of choice? The Open Source Center of the CIA is claiming that more and more intelligence getting on the president desk is coming from open sources including blogs. In fact the CIA has developed powerful software that sift through blogs - and they also developed methods to cross check for accuracy. With so many blogs from so many regions of the world, the CIAclaims to stumble on some very good intelligence they wouldn't have had otherwise in some occasion. Not to mention it is one very good way to have a feel for how people are feeling in certain regions of the world or vis-a-vis specific events. A very good way to understand regions where terrorim is fostering!
The NSA spying on U.S. citizens produced no results according to manyAccording to accounts from former and current officials, the warantless eavesdropping performed on U.S. citizens by the NSA on the order of president Bush resulted in no new potential suspects to further investigate. In other words, Alot of people in the government listened in on alot of U.S.itizens conversations for nothing. It didn't help in securing the United States in any way nor did it help in any way inthe war on terrorism. I think there is a lesson to learn from all of you who are looking to buy spy equipment for legitimate purposes... Before you buy a piece of spy gear because you assumed you need it, ask yourself "what do i really want to accomplish? what information do i need? what are the different ways i could go about getting that information? Do i really need X device? " The answer might surprise you. Maybe you need some sort of spying devices. But maybe not the one you think you need. Maybe you don't even need any equipment at all! Ask pros about your needs and they will help you get the information or evidence you want and need. Hey, you can always ask us! Reports the NSA spied on United States citizens without any warrantsThere are reports that the super secretive NSA, which intercepts all types of communications, has been spying on it's own citizens without any warrants, using it's highly advanced spy equipment. This is clearly illegal and many Senators are wanting something to be done about it. Many hundreds of United States citizens are believed to have been spied on without any warrants. The New York Yimes is reporting president Bush might even have personally authorised such illegal spying activities.
